Visited Rhode Island Coffee on the first day of their re-opening. Eye catching refurbishment worth waiting for. Good selection of food and drinks. Very pleasant atmosphere. Friendly and pleasant staff. I sat upstairs by the window. Very relaxing. Good background music playing.
First time visit since refurbishment.
A really nice cafe and I enjoyed my visit. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nice little coffee shop with plenty of seating. Coffee was quite nice and not as bitter as Costa. The buns were nice as well. We sat upstairs on this occasion looking out towards the old White Lion pub.
Friendly staff, good prices, comfy atmosphere (warm, lots of places to sit, music at a decent volume). I sat and read for a few hours with ease. :-)
A very disappointing visit, we had been recommended this coffee shop by various people so admittedly did have quite high expectations.
The coffee was quite bland with no real character to make it stand out, this does mean it didn't have any major negatives but was just not a interesting cup of coffee. The skill of the barista was good, they did scorch the milk slightly making the drink thinner than it should have been but the latte art was good.
The cake....omg...the cake, it was dreadful. The vegan banana loaf was the worst cake we have tasted in a long time, the overriding flavour was uncooked flour, it had a poor consistency leaving a very unpleasant mouth feel.
We also sat upstairs, the building the shop is located in is awesome, just a shame that they haven't removed the massive cobwebs hanging over customers heads.
Wont be rushing back.
I really like the upstairs bit since the refurb. It's not trying to be modern. It feels old school cosy coffee shop, in a good way. Instantly reminded me of the coffee shop in Frasier, or something from a 90s rom com. Nice place to hide away in the winter with a book or laptop.
Unfortunately my flat white wasn't great, which is a shame but I put that down to new young staff still training and finding their feet so not the end of the world.
Wow! What a pleasant surprise,I have never been in here before and I certainly will be visiting again. Raspberry Ruffle latte was absolutely divine! Great sandwiches and a large selection of cakes too. Very reasonably priced. The staff were VERY helpful and singing lovely Christmas songs too!
Amazing and delicious caramel latte made here which comes in different sizes with perfect temperature and presented very neatly. I've been here several times and the service has never failed to disappoint with friendly staff members and always a bubbly atmosphere. Would strongly recommend going here as I got a free coffee for visiting a certain number of times!
